Verry nice welcomed and the receptionist were helpful telling us about the parking possibillitites in Portofino. we were also galdy suprised when the parking fee was included in our rooms.

We tought the place was bether than expected, mostly due to the even bether private beach than what we expected.
also due to the easy parking possibilities for the car, we were told by reading other visitors experiences that the parking was almost impossible.

We had a verry early checking out, but even so we were served breakfast and got all the help needed for packing the car etc.

We enjoyed our stay at the Piccolo. We especially liked the location, and the grotto in front of the hotel which was a private swim area for guests.
The only comment that I would make for improvement would be that the waiter who served breakfast both mornings was not very friendly and cheerful.

Wonderful people and excellent staff. Special arrangements included room with a view, all restaurants during our visit and a dozen roses in less than an hour of my request. Only mistake was clerical 'Mrs.' (actually Mr.)

The website is not entirely clear on the location, which was better than I expected. It is within 3-5 min walking distance to the Portofino harbour town, just below the Hotel Splendido, and on the point overlooking the harbour entrance and opposite the castle guarding it.

The bellboy saw us coming and ran to pick up our luggage. We expected a nice room with a view and balcony but we were happily surprised that we were given the best room with a great view.

I took so many pictures that I would show him all for him to VIEW what we saw. A nice quiet out of the way but still very close to the action hotel with a very nice room and a great view from the balcony looking right at the Brown Castle and the boats.

The clerk there in the evening (young, light brown hair) was extremely helpful with dinner recommendations and reservations and honest about what was good and not good in Portofino. His advice made our stay extra enjoyable.

Small but very nice. A little noisey with the cycles ut not bad. Really a nice place, top-quality room. We had a lower room with a very large balcony which was nice, but I suspect the higher rooms had a better view aboive the tree line to the sea.

There is no nearby parking at the Piccolo Hotel. You have to walk 400m to a public parking, witch is free of charge, but you my have to park in second row. It my take an hour to leave Portofino from there if the is a queue on tourist rush hour.

It is definitely one of the loudest - if not the loudes hotel in Portofino. The pictures on the Website mask this hausfront passing mainroad.

My family and I enjoyed a wonderful five day stay at the Hotel Piccolo. There were no 'unwelcome surprises' and the accommodations were exactly what we expected. It was clean, extremely quiet and well appointed, with firm beds and a very nice bathroom. If one is driving, the system they have to handle parking in a location where parking is severly limited, is very efficient and free. Nicola, a delightful gentleman who serves as a host/ concierge, is a very special added feature at the Piccolo. He put together three great day trips for us that helped make our stay very special. Furthermor, our boys, six and nine, enjoyed both the private beach and the breakfast spread. In short, we highly recommend the Piccolo.

The room we stayed in was on two floor with a good sized terrace and a balcony. I am not sure how it was described on the web site but it was perhaps more grand than anticipated albeit that the decor was somewhat dated.

Very prety location with its own private beach area. There was no charge to use the beach/sun loungers. The main thing that was missing was a snack / drink facility during the day and the restaurant was not inspiring enough for us to chose to dine there in the evening.

While the room had a balcony, it was extremely small with no seating other than the bed. We were moved to another room the next night which was much better. The bathrooms were very nice and modern, but the beds were very hard and uncomfortable. The decor also needs to be updated. Other than that, we had a plesant stay.

We loved the hotel and location. You could even add to your materials the information that it is so close to Santa Margurieta and the market. Also that there is easy bus access from Santa Margueritta.
Have hotel staff know more about the hike to Santa Fructosa.

A place to go to the beach--just across the street and also able to go hiking in the mountains.
The place to come and relax for a week and never want to leave.
Just like staying at the Splendido--only paying less money but on the same mountain at lower altitude.

Our stay was wonderful, room was lovely and on our second night we were moved to a balcony room which was our original request.The views, beach access, and proximity to walking/hiking trails make this and ideal location.In a hotel of this caliber, we expect to have wi-fi access in our room (rather than in the lobby only) and a breakfast with some protein options included(cheese, egg). The gentleman in charge of breakfast was unnecessarily rushed, not allowing guests to feel relaxed. Staff at desk were courteous and helpful.

Yes, to #9, except the hotel is right on the road, which is not stated, so it is very noisy with the motorcycles and trucks.It was TOO NOISY.WHy are the blinds closed all the time in the dining room? It would be nice to look out. And the fake flowers on the tables are distasteful, with all the greenery in the area, something fresh would be appropriate.

The only negative aspect is that some people may find it noisy, as the hotel is right on the road (not unusual in Italy), so you get quite a lot of traffic noise if you have a sea view - but it's worth it!

Upon checking in, the manager was extremely helpful and sympathetic as we had just come from Paraggi by taxi and were forced to pay the taxi drive €35.00Euros to go literally just around the corner to Hotel Piccolo. My husband and I felt so 'ripped off'. They sent up a bottle of champagne which made us feel very welcome and in safe territory!
The only negative comment is that our room was extremely hot. We called someone up to try to fix our air conditioner, but it didn't help. We slept very uncomfortably all night.
However, everthing else was great about our stay.

It's a nice hotel in a great location, but you pay more because of it's proximity to Portofino. I don't know why Portofino is so expensive, it's not worth it in my experience. I prefer Camolgi.

We had the room for 4 with a balcony. The view was great. The main bedroom and only bath is up a steep spiral staircase which was a challenge. (but we were careful and there were no falls!) The bed in the living area was the couch which made into trundles...not great but they worked.

It is a very picturesque hotel, simple inside with a beautiful private beach with gorgeous views of the water and hillside. The breakfast was good. The only parking avaiable is in a hard to navagate parking garage, a good 7 minute walk into Portofino and so we took the bus (10 minutes)to Santa Margarita, as the staff recommended. The hotel is set off by itself so there are no crowds, very peaceful. If you want convenience to restaurants and shops you should stay in Santa Margariata or the main Portofino cove.

the taxi driver charged us 45 euros for a 10min ride, the average cost is 25 euros, the bus stops right outside the hotel so we didnt need to hire a taxi again

The property is overlooking a sheltered harbour, not right in Portofino, but a 5 minute walk down cobblestone walkway, be
prepared to climb many stairs to get to the restuarants in Portofino, and up to the Castle overlooking the harbour, our room had a terrace so we could sit outside and look over the beautiful cove, the Piccolo has a private terraced beach front across the street, we sat and had our coffee there in the morning, the street below is busy with traffic coming in and out of Portofino, but the traffic does calm down in the evening, we were there in May so not too busy, nice location, bus stops right outside the hotel so it's easy to get to shops in Santa Margarita and the train. Four Star is a push, but in Italy maybe it is. Bed was extremely hard. Safe is very small hardly fits a wallet. Bathroom newly marbled and very clean.

One of our rooms was spacious with a wonderful view. The other was tiny but with a wonderful view. Our room had a winding staircase from a 'living room' to the bedroom on the upper level. It was really designed for a family with children. We are 60 years old and this was difficult for us. Rooms were clean and bathrooms were very nice. I would stay here again, but not in that room.

We hadn't been told that the restaurant, snack bar and drinks bar would not be available during our stay. I wasn't made aware of any facilities for refreshments available after breakfast.

We expected a more elegant and charateristic hotel managed and run by the family who own it, it is now very much a 'Chain Hotel'. We did not find the staff very helpful in guiding us around the area or providing maps or details of the surrounding visits. In summary not what we expected. The Dining Room is very utilitarian as was the Braekfast Buffet.

Shouldn't be classed as a 4 star hotel. Friendly and clean but had no facilities that would constitute a four star hotel in my opinion. No coffee/tea making facilitites in the room. No ironing facilities in the room. TV was old and partially broken and there were no english speaking channels available. No internet access unless they allow you to use the computer in the office, which they kindly did. This is not a criticism of the the staff. However, as far as I can see the only reason they got 4 stars was because of location, which is excellent.

nice place and a cheaper way to stay in Portofino, but you only get a clean room and a view. Nothing else. Staff are frienldy and efficient. GO to this hotel if you don't mind not having the little extras I have mentioned.

Be prepared for the hotel as you are rounding the bend into Portofino as the car parking spaces are immediately upon you.....if you miss them it means driving into town to turn round which isn't easy on such narrow roads.. Parking not ideal. Restaurant a little disappointing....Positioned next to main road slighly below road level....wouldn't consider it for an evening meal.

On a very busy street, with quite a lot of street noise-did not disturb us at night with the windows and shutters closed, however.
We did not eat in the restaurant in the evenings because of the heat, even the mornings were quite warm there.

We have never been to the area before so we asked quite a few questions about how to get around town from the hotel upon arrival... the staff seemed very put out to have to give this information to us. It was as though they expected us to know the bus schedule and where we could eat, sunbathe and shop beforehand. Ultimately they made us feel quite inept for asking such questions.

The facilities were great... would recommend them to friends and family. However I would warn friends/family to do their homework about transportation, restaurants, siteseeing, etc. before they arrive because the hotel staff was not dependable in helping to coordinate these activities for guests.

- The lagoon and private beach at Hotel Piccolo are the best in the area... very private and perfectly located.

Hotel Piccolo is a gem of a hotel in the heart of Portofino... hovering over the majestic Mediterranean Sea and just steps away from the quaint shops of Portofino. The accommodations are excellent, the daily breakfast exceeds the standard, the grounds are well cared-for but do your homework before you arrive because the hotel staff is not keen on helping to plan your daily excursions.

The rooms had a lot of wear and tear for a four star hotel. The room smelled like heavy smoke and the cabinets of flimsy wood. The carpet and furnishings seemed worn.
The bathroom was very beautiful and the views of the cove were incredible! The hotel did not inform us of an 18 euro charge for delivery of a continental breakfast until checkout.

The hotel is lovely and our particular suite was very comfortable. The only drawback to this property was that several of the reception staff were arrogant and curt.
